CAJUN BYWAY
A Musical Journey Through Louisiana History

Take a trip down the back roads of Louisiana, where every bend has a story and every story has a song.

Cajun Byway is a live musical history show created by songwriter and storyteller Mark Cuvillier, tracing the people, struggles, migrations, wars, and cultures that helped shape Louisiana.

The journey begins with the Acadians—resistance in Acadie, exile, loss, and the long road that eventually brought them to Louisiana. From there, the story travels through the Battle of New Orleans, the Civil War, the devastating flood of 1927, and the changing Louisiana of the twentieth century.

But Louisiana's story was never written by one people alone. Along the way, Cajun Byway introduces the Irish laborers who dug New Orleans canals, Italian immigrants who built new lives in the city, Mexican communities who added their own traditions, Creole culture, and the generations of ordinary Louisianans whose stories rarely make the history books.

Politics, war, migration, tragedy, humor, faith, food, family, and music all meet on the same road.

Blending original songs with the stories behind them, Cajun Byway isn't simply a concert or a history lecture.

It's Louisiana history you can hear.
